Linguistic

Languages

  • Within Metin2 there are three separate empires: Chunjo, Jinno and Shinsoo.
  • Each empire has its own language which means players from different empires can not read or write to each other. *Communication can be seen as a vital part of any game, so there are ways to communicate with other empires.

Language Books

  • Each player has the possibility to master the language of different empires.
  • The maximum level of linguistics is M1. You have to read 20 language books successfully.
  • Once you have mastered a language, you can understand what they are saying but other players won't be able to see what you write.
  • You can view your current linguistic level by opening the skill tab (V) and see the icons of language books:

  • You cannot learn your own language. Only if you change kingdoms (Background.pngTincture of Kingdoms.png Tincture of Kingdoms) you can master your previous language.

Language Ring

  • It is possible to refrain from reading books to understand each other.
  • The use of a Background.pngLanguage Ring.png Language Ring allows you to communicate much smoother should you or the other player have not learned languages.
  • Once a player uses a language ring, he can be understood by other players as well as the user being able to understand other players.

'Sign' Language

  • Throughout the years, players within Metin2 have developed another way to communicate between empires, known as 'sign' language.
  • Essentially, players will use numerical or special characters to type to each other. These types of characters are not blocked like normal characters are.
  • An example of this would be typing "90" instead of "go", or "|< | |_ |_ |\/| 3" instead of "kill me".
